We're making songs down here in the basement of Victory House.
1 mic. & every mistake is a keeper.
LO FI. Freestyle.
Watched a half moon rising up late last night. Looked to the north in hopes of seeing the Lights. No wind.
Harvest Moon. Jupiter. Rains.
November. Clear, brilliant days.
Waiting for the Northern Lights tonight… An old song by my friend Danny Kelly. His band was Heliotroupe from Olympia. Live and direct from the basement, via sun storms and outer space….
(P.S. ~ just learning some history here - Danny just wrote to say “ya know i sent it to Mark Eckert so he could listen… he actually wrote that song and it was the very first thing we recorded in the living room of the little white house…” This makes me happy for reasons that only folks who lived in Olympia back in the day will fully understand. Me, I only caught some of it myself.
PPSS - The fun of basement recording is that there isn’t anyone else around to save oneself from using too much reverb from time to time…. Check. Guilty. That’s grand.
